Wow! There are soooo many things I would do differently now that I’m in the wedding business, and really know what I'm doing—and they truly are my biggest regrets from my own wedding day. I want to marry my hubby all over again and do some things differently! ;)
What I Would Do Differently with My Wedding Plans
I’ve said it before, but I don’t really remember my wedding day. It was a whirlwind. While I really DO love my wedding pictures, there are so many things and moments that I feel didn’t get captured on the big day. There are people who are close with my husband, that travelled all the way from Chicago for our wedding that we did not get a single picture with!!! That's really sad, y'all!
I don’t have any wonderful getting ready pictures with my Mom or bridesmaids, which really makes me sad.
In hind sight, I should have made a list to give to my photographer of things and people to take pictures of, and even a timeline. Then he would have known those were important things and people I wanted pictures with. It's not his fault, he didn't know, you know?
Some days, I’d seriously love to rent Applewood Farm for the day and take pictures all over again with everyone! Ha! Side note: I actually have a friend that recently got married, and is totally doing that. However, that’s usually not possible on the wallets of most newlyweds! Plus, you’ll confuse the pictures from the actual day later!
Make an appointment for a Bridal Session so you can get some stunning photos of your wedding dress before the big day.
This would be a great run-through on your routine for getting ready for the wedding day with your make-up and hair, and you will get more comfortable with your photographer. I really wish I had Bridal Portraits made before my wedding day. There are so many pictures of my gorgeous dress that I wish had been captured, but sigh, they were not.
Of course, do engagement pictures together and then both of you will really be comfortable with your photographer.
When we got married, Cotton & Clover was not yet in business. If I could do it all over again, Cotton & Clover Photography would be the company I would hire and trust to capture all of the moments from the biggest and best day of my life. I know they will capture the best moments of your day! You can read our previous blog post about Cotton & Clover Photography, and learn more about them. You will love Julie and Laura just as much as I do! Promise. Cotton & Clover Photography will be the photographers I use for any family photos or “big” life moments down the road.
I talked with Julie from Cotton & Clover just for y'all, and they WILL make a timeline and schedule so the brides, families, and the bridal party are aware of when and where things will happen and when to be ready. They have a plan (and a list of names for every picture) of all of the pictures that will be taken and what the bride wants; and they capture all of the little unplanned and real moments of your day (which is their favorite part!). They will have beautiful poses ready for each couple, and are ready to capture anything that is special and unique to each couple!
I’ve heard so many brides say that their biggest regret was not hiring a videographer. This is SO true! Trust me, you do need a videographer for your wedding day! It can be an heirloom for your future children. It can be an anniversary tradition to watch your wedding video. It will help you remember the best day.
I love the wedding films that have footage from everything—from getting ready, to the first look, down to every last detail. My wedding video is nothing like the ones I love! Again, no film from our first look or getting ready with my 'maids. Biggest Regret #2, I tell ya!
Did my hubby cry at our first look!? Well, I think so?!?
If it had been captured on a wedding film then I would remember! Talk with your videographer about what you want your film to be like, and what should be included.
We actually have a videographer on staff, and Dale will capture the moments from your wedding day, just as if it was his own wedding!
Your wedding film, just like your wedding pictures, are a treasure that you cannot capture again. Don’t skip the wedding videographer to save money!!! Say it with me:
"I'm going to hire a videographer. I NEED a wedding film. I Need footage from EVERYTHING!!! I WILL hire a PROFESSIONAL wedding videographer!"
Got it? Good. Yes, it's that important. Really.
