A wedding inspiration board is the perfect way to find that out, and express your wedding vision. I create inspiration boards, or mood boards, as some people call them, for everything! For me, they are the crucial factor to make sure the many thoughts in my head flow together. Updating our house? Inspiration Board! Throwing a Party? Inspiration Board! My Wedding? Inspiration Board, of course! It is what I need to organize my thoughts for decision making.
With a wedding inspiration board, everything is in one place and you can easily see if new ideas go together with things that you strongly love. An inspiration board helps you clearly organize your ideas and things you love in one place. It aligns the feel, aesthetic and color palette in one place to create the perfect visual of things you love.
How to Create a Wedding Inspiration Board
First think about how you want your wedding to feel, and the theme you're trying to achieve. Do you want your wedding to be upscale and modern, a vintage feel, garden or rustic vibe?
Then think about a color scheme to use as a guideline when planning the details of your wedding. Think pastels, jewel tones, neutrals, black and white, etc. For color inspiration, search Pantone or even picking out paint samples at the store would work.
Next, you need to pull images that inspire you—you can use pictures from wedding websites, interior design, landscapes, anything! Pinterest, of course, is full of inspiration. Make sure to include pictures with texture and keep your color scheme in mind. After you've collected a variety of images, it's time to piece them together and make that inspiration board! Make sure to pick a wide variety of aesthetic elements for every part of your wedding.
There are many programs you can use to do this, but I like to use PicMonkey or Canva to create my inspiration boards. Both are user friendly and free (unless you want to use more filters) to use. All you need is an email address and password, and you are ready to get started! I also use Photoshop, but it costs money and not as user friendly.
Pick a layout you like on one of the free websites, and now it's time to add those photos! Remember you're using elements that have inspired you for your wedding day: colors, feeling, and ideas you love. You can move images around the board until you get a layout you love and that looks clean. Save and voila! You created a wedding inspiration board! You can save the image to your phone so you always have it with you.
Why You NEED to Create a Wedding Inspiration Board
The wedding inspiration board that you create represents the feeling and aesthetics that you absolutely love for your wedding. It's inspiration with organized thoughts into one cohesive space, and you can easily see if new ideas will work. If the new idea doesn't go with your inspiration board, move on to the next! You are using the inspiration board to display the style and tone you've created for your wedding day.
The best part? When you meet with vendors for site visits and consultations, you can send them your inspiration board! This will let creativity happen, and your ideas come to life from the inspiration boards you have shared. It's always there when you need to see your inspiration!
I think you'll find that it's fun to create inspiration boards as you watch your wedding vision come to life. Will you create a wedding inspiration board?
