Hey there, trendy brides! If you're getting married in 2018, you may be wondering what the trends will be in the wedding world when you tie the knot.
Today, let's chat all about the trend forecast for next year popping up in the wedding world.
Marble is so in! It is one of the hottest trends that we will see in 2018. It’s such a versatile trend that really will pair with any theme and you can double your marble finds to become décor for your home after the wedding. Yay! What started as a home trend, has now taken over the wedding world! Marble is oh so chic, and you can incorporate this trend so many ways. From your invitations to place settings, you can't go wrong with a little marble!
2018 is the year for all things luxe and velvety for the fashion forward bride! A couple of touches of velvet can be found just about anywhere! Consider using crushed velvet tablecloths, velvet high heels or maybe even be a little daring with velvet bridesmaids’ dresses! Oh, or even velvet draping for your ceremony or reception, anyone?! Yep, our staff at On-Site Productions can do that, too! Velvet is the perfect option for a fall or winter wedding and boasts a confident and amazing look!
Who doesn’t love a metallic?!? Gold and copper are currently trending, but you can expect for silver and chrome to also have their moment. Copper isn’t going anywhere anytime soon though, and that makes my copper lovin’ heart happy, happy!

The past few years we’ve seen soft, neutral color palettes no matter the season. For 2018, dark colors are in—especially deep burgundy and marsala! These deep colors are totally unexpected for a wedding, and paired with a mixed metallic you’re sure to have a dreamy color palette!
Rustic has been the trend for many years. Move over the mason jars and opt for dream catchers, Persian rugs, color and natural elements for a Boho chic wedding! A Bohemian wedding portrays an organic and enchanted look, yet is soft and romantic. Imagine flowy dresses and braids adorned with greenery and florals for you and your ‘maids.
Last year we saw a lot of the naked cakes. You can expect to see many brides opt for a drip cake, which adds interest to the traditional wedding cake. You can even get creative with the cake because the drip can be any color and will impress your guests!
Industrial weddings are in! Think warehouse and factory venues paired with mixed metals and string lights. This theme has a minimalist chic feel and is a favorite of brides because of the simple elegance. With exposed brick, ceiling beams and large size it’s no wonder warehouses are becoming the new venue trend! Birmingham has some cool industrial venues to check out: Events at Haven, B&A Warehouse and Bridgestreet Gallery and Loft just to name a few!
We did the lighting and draping for Lacey and Miles’ industrial themed wedding in the pictures below, and you can find more inspiration pictures from their day here.
Imagine hanging geometric chandeliers adorned with florals to add a pop of interest—perfect for the Boho chic bride! Or consider pairing geometric shapes with marble and cooper for an elegant touch. Use the geometric sparingly for the best look.
We’ve seen many couples opt for a ceremony wreath instead of the traditional altar. A ceremony wreath makes a stunning backdrop, and is a complete circle of greenery or florals. We’ve even seen brides opt for several smaller ceremony wreaths creating a suspended backdrop and even hanging from light fixtures.
We were part of Chelsea & Phillip's wedding, and the large floral ceremony wreath was definitely one of our favorite parts of their day! You can find more inspiration from their day here.
Elegant draping and romantic lighting are always on trend. Create a timeless look with our crystal chandeliers and draping or opt for a Bohemian or industrial look with our café lighting. Create a dramatic look with one of our custom draping designs.
For all the brides that are incorporating velvet into your wedding we can do a specialty design with velvet drape. YES, VELVET, VELVET DRAPE!!! Yes, yes we can! I really hope one of our brides decides to choose velvet drape for next year because I'm crushing on the velvet right now. :)
Whatever trends you choose to incorporate into your wedding day, make sure it feels like YOU! 2018 has gorgeous trends in store, and we can’t wait to celebrate you on your wedding day! Cheers to all the trendy, 2018 brides out there!
